Ollie at 9 Months... and 8 months... oops!

Today our Ollie Bear is 9 months old!
Taking monthly pics with sticky ties is not his preferred Saturday morning activity, so this is the best we could get :)

This month SO MUCH HAPPENED!!! He got 2 bottom teeth (see below) and is working on his upper front teeth now.  He started crawling. He waves and claps his hands. He sings along to music (not in any recognizable tone, but still.) His hair is getting really long. You can't tell in the photos because of the lighting and how blonde it is, but he's going to need a trim soon.

He's working on words... mama, dada, and huhwoh. Almost a hello.

He doesn't sit still and puts EVERYTHING in his mouth... especially the little plastic, squeaking choking hazards the dogs get out of their chew toys. It keeps us on our toes.

He's also growing way too fast. 22 pounds and 29". I can hardly carry him anymore!

And I just realized we never properly documented Oliver at 8 months, and this pic about sums it up!

Thankfully, he is much happier this month!

Another BOY!!!

It's a BOY!!!

Y'all know I couldn't wait to find out the gender of baby #2, so we made an appointment at the Ultrasound Experience (same place we went with Oliver) for our 14 week gender reveal and we are SO EXCITED to welcome another baby boy into our family!!!
We would have been thrilled either way, but another boy means I'm already ready! I've got everything I need for a boy and Oliver is going to be the best big (ish) Brother... they'll be pretty close in size I imagine :) It will be like having twins! I am already planning all the matching ensembles and photo shoots and costumes. Oh I can't wait!!!

7 months

Oliver is 7 months old and I am 3 months pregnant! And life has been non-stop, crazy busy since the second we found out we are having another baby.
Until we know the gender, we're calling the new baby "BOGO", like buy one get one free. Kind of silly, but we are super excited about our miracle baby Bogey Bear!
We are THRILLED, but we have A LOT to do to prepare! Any wisdom or words of advice on raising two babies 13 months apart is totally welcome :)
Oliver's seven month photo shoot was done this evening after a looong day for both of us, and Ollie Bear is definitely more of a morning person (like his mama), so the pictures reflect that...
The whole "transition to crib" thing has been a complete failure. But live and learn... looks like Oliver will sleep in our bed until he moves out and new baby will go right to their crib from birth. Ha! But seriously, I am not a big proponent of the family bed phenomenon, and somehow we're living it everyday complete with 2 dogs at our feet and a seven month old between us all sprawled out like it's his bed. Maybe we just have to move to the guest room and give him the master. At least he doesn't snore or hog the covers. And he's mostly tiny. Did you catch that he's 28" tall already? I don't like to talk about it, but I am legit only 58" tall. THIS KID IS HALF MY HEIGHT and he's an infant! Dang.
Sweet little (giant) Ollie Bear is not into sitting still. Not even for pictures. Homeboy has been rolling around like crazy and I'm pretty sure he's about to start crawling. What happened to my little baby?!

Our little man is growing up so fast and in 6 months he's going to be the best big brother!

6 months

Whew! Half a year has gone by in a second!
Our little Ollie Bear is SIX MONTHS OLD today
and we are just as smitten with him as the day we met him.

This month Oliver has become quite ticklish, and is developing a sense of humor. He laughs when raspberry his belly, he laughs when we laugh. Sometimes he just looks at us and laughs. Whatever, we'll take it!
He wears size 6-9 months in most clothes and size 2 in diapers. He goes to daycare 2 days one week and 3 days the next while I am at work. They tell me he doesn't nap regularly, but he's content. Sleep has been all over the place this month. We've had a heat wave in Southern California that has made everyone uncomfortable and restless. Our AC bill was $300 last month. Yikes! Ollie usually wakes up to nurse once or twice each night. It's easier just keeping him in our bed, but I had a goal to get him in his nursery by 6 months.  He slept in his crib once for about 2 hours, so we're working on that one!

Love those leg rolls and cankles!

Oliver, you are inquisitive, talkative, adventurous, smiley,
and you make our hearts full and happy.

5 months

You guys, I gotta be honest... it just keeps getting BETTER!!!
Every month I'm all "THIS, THIS MONTH is the best!"
For realsies though, month # FIVE is fantastic!
This boy is happy ALL the time. He smiles for the camera like we trained him in utero...
we did in fact train him in utero (hello all those 4d ultrasounds!)

We had our first tent-camping experience. 2 nights at Palomar Mountain. He camped like a champ. And I finally caved and bought the BOB revolution jogger so we could do more rugged hiking trails. Love it! My B-Agile is still my fav for everyday strolling and shopping, but the BOB is great for mud and more involved hikes. In short, I collect ALL the baby gear. No really, we have one baby, but 2 strollers, 6 different carriers (ergo, k'tan, 2 bjorns, 3 slings, etc.), 2 swings, a mamaroo, 2 pack 'n plays, a rock 'n sleep, 2 high chairs and a bumbo, 3 floor mats, and the list goes on. You never know what you're going to need, right? Do I need to be admitted to some kind of hoarders anonymous program? Perhaps.
And it literally takes NOTHING to make this boy happy. I say his name in my most high pitched voice and he squeals. It is the best!

Personality for days, this one. And we are so, so grateful for him and his sweet little spunky spirit. And those chubby cheeks too!

New Home Tour

**This is mostly for my parents who want to see our new place but haven't been able to face time yet**
Last Saturday we packed up our little 2 bedroom apartment and settled into our new 3 bedroom townhome. Grab a cup of coffee and a snack and come along for a quick tour...
We rented the medium sized U-Haul and still had to make 2 trips. We could have made 3. A lot of our stuff is STILL at our old apartment, but we have it through the end of the month so no rush :) #hoarderproblems

We can fit one car in the garage, maybe both once all the boxes are unpacked, but it will be tight. Our washer and dryer are also in the garage which is less than ideal, but I can't complain because hey! Cheers for not having to lug our laundry to the Laundromat! It's the little things.

Here is the front door... not much to look at now, but once I unpack my wreaths and exterior d├ęcor we'll spruce it up a bit.

Right when you walk in is a wall of mirrors. Don't let your eyes deceive you, we still only have 2 dogs. And they still LOVE photo bombing all my pictures.

To the right is the living room, to the left is the garage, and there is under stairs storage and a half bathroom downstairs.  There are 2 bathrooms upstairs, but they are admittedly hideous so there will not be any potty pics. You're welcome. We're talking pastel floral wall paper from 1987, why? Just why?
Living Room
This living room layout is wonky, but trying to work around a corner fireplace is just plain tricky. I wish we had more seating, but it is what it is. Luckily most of my sitting down time is playing on the floor with Oliver and there's plenty of floor space for that.
The first decorating task I completed was, of course, the "Walliver".  There's a few new pics from the Summer if you zoom in.
This house is relatively small, like 1,300 square feet, but it has vaulted ceilings and natural light so it doesn't feel too cramped. Oh, and the living room has a hobbit door so there's that!

Dining Room

The kitchen's not really my style, but que sera... it's not like I spend any time in the kitchen anyway :)
Thank you Craigslist for all the patio furniture! Let it be said that it was a BEAST to store all of that in our apartment the last couple weeks... I should have taken a picture of that! Let's just say it was not worthy of my "Decorating Small Spaces" board on pinterest.

There's even a small balcony off the master suite where I can sip a cup of tea and read a book. make sure the childproof door is latched securely. It is. Bonus of this place is the last family that lived here had kids and childproofed everything. Yay! My work here is done!

We hang out on the patio a lot and we're looking forward to fun pool days. Here's a little aerial view of the neighborhood...

Back inside... when you go upstairs, the master bedroom is on the left and the other two bedrooms and bathroom are on the right. Oh, I need to rehang those sconces more evenly. Oops. Chalk it up to short people problems. I can't see that high!

The terrifying landing at the top of the stairs... baby proofing that asap!

Oliver's nursery on the left, guest room on the right.

There's all these weird window ledges in this house... this one holds a changing table perfectly, but I don't know what to do with the other ones. Add a cushion and make a seating area? It makes hanging curtains positively impossible. But yay! I don't have to bother hanging curtains.

We collect old copies of Oliver Twist. And our last name is Hoag, practically hog, so now we collect pigs too I guess :)

The master bedroom isn't finished yet... not even unpacked yet really. But here's a peek anyway.

The bad news is the closet is full and I still have 16 tuft totes of shoes, clothes, and purses to unpack. Womp womp.

So much work to do! But it's my last weekend of Summer and we're off for a camping trip with friends. Happy weekend everyone!
